If you’re headed to Europe this year, you’ll likely need prior approval through the new European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS). Expected to launch in the next few months, ETIAS will require U.S. citizens to show this authorization upon arriving in a European country (with some exceptions, like Ireland). You’ll need your passport, about $8, at least a month’s notice, and 20-ish minutes to answer questions online. To learn more, go to travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en. Oh, and have the best time!
In a recent study from the University of Louisville, some experts planted more than 8,000 large trees and shrubs in designated neighborhoods, while others studied the residents before and after. Ultimately, the people surrounded by extra greenery showed lower levels of a blood marker of inflammation than those living outside the planted areas. (Inflammation is an important risk indicator for heart disease and other chronic conditions.) The point? Let’s all plan to do some planting in the spring.
