REAL SIMPLE SENIOR HOME EDITOR
Meet the newest member of our team! Hannah has an eye for design and always knows exactly what to buy.
Where did you grow up?
Athens, Georgia. We have a great music scene and delish food. So many people I love still live there, and I can’t wait for my next visit.
Favorite item in your home:
An antique library card catalog I got on the street. It’s mainly decorative, but it also stores odds and ends.
Everyday uniform:
I love vintage, oversize men’s button-ups. They’re versatile, classic, and often much better quality than women’s shirts.
PHOTOGRAPHER
Once again, Christopher shot the REAL SIMPLE Home for us (page 82). Once again, he nailed it.
Where’s your happy place?
The Finger Lakes in upstate New York.
Hidden talent:
I’m good at doing impressions. I also make up voices and funny song lyrics for my 6-year-old daughter.
What’s your next big purchase?
I’m trying to focus on saving money, but as someone who loves the outdoors, I could really use a bike.
If I did splurge on a purchase, it would probably be on my dream bike.
ILLUSTRATOR
The L.A.-based artist drew the soothing images for our story on small rituals (page 65).
Ideal weekend plans:
Driving to Santa Barbara andgoing to the beach for a hike. For dinner, I’m grabbing burritos.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
Since the age of 6, I wanted to be an artist. I would make little children’s books with copy paper—all about the fictional adventures my cats went on.
Currently binge-watching:
Sex and the City, from the start.
FREELANCE WRITER
Mariette lives in Florida and has been to 26 countries. She knows about travel, so we had her pack up some tips (page 60).
Favorite trip so far:
I recently spent two weeks exploring Ghana. I got to experience the nightlife in Accra, and I went on my first safari.
The one thing you can’t live without:
I’m very old-school, and I have a day planner where I write out my daily to-do lists, deadlines, and upcoming appointments.
