Silversea’s Silver Nova will be sailing her inaugural season in Asia-Pacific through April 2025: November to February, she’s sailing seven 16- to 18-day itineraries in Australia and New Zealand, then heading back to Asia. It will mark the introduction of Silversea’s culinary program, S.A.L.T. in Australia and New Zealand, while also delivering S.A.L.T. shore excursions in Japan for the first time. Some highlights include learning about the building blocks of umami in Japan; learning to make traditional and new Vietnamese dishes with the first chef to receive a Michelin star in Ho Chi Minh City; visiting wineries in New Zealand; exploring metropolitan Melbourne with its vibrant dining scene; and scouting the wilder shores of Tasmania where passengers will learn about foraging.BARBARA BIFFI Silversea’s Barbara Biffi, Sr. VP, Global Sales, tells Recommend, “With the Nova class, we're seeing a younger crowd. It’s not Millennials; it’s those people who have the same travel mindset as the guests we crafted the product for. That means [people looking for] cultural immersion, culinary excellence, destination immersion, so the intention is to travel deeper and being actually very curious about the places that you go to.” She points out that Silversea sails to places that “are not the normal cruise experience,” and as such the cruise line is attracting the new-to-cruise including with its expedition product. The latter, she says, “is attracting the customers who were probably looking at safaris…. There are destinations that are simply perfect to be explored via a ship and when it comes to exploring a destination deeper with expertise, that’s when travelers look at us, for that perfect blend of creature comfort and destination immersion.” silversea.com
