The 284-room Davenport Hotel, previously known as The Historic Davenport and the crown jewel of Davenport Hotels’ boutique collection of properties in Spokane, Washington, unveils two new arrivals to the lobby during this month’s grand opening. The renovation preserves the Pacific Northwest hotel’s historical design elements, while debuting a new Lobby Bar and Emporium. This is the largest investment in the hotel in over two decades since the reopening in 2002.
Says Melissa Green, new VP & Area Managing Director, Davenport Hotels, “The freshly renovated lobby reflects our commitment to blending timeless elegance with contemporary comforts at the Davenport Hotel. These immersive gathering spaces are designed for our guests and locals to come together. The new Lobby Bar and Emporium elevate the guest experience, while continuing to preserve the heart of our historic hotel.”
Set in the center of the hotel’s Spanish architecture-inspired lobby, the Lobby Bar reimagines the space that is fondly referred to as “Spokane’s Living Room.” The rounded bar was designed around the lobby’s original historical light posts and will feature more than 50 seats. Guests will be treated to a menu that honors Davenport Hotel’s 1920’s Prohibition heritage. The Emporium, meanwhile, is a specialty retail space and cafe featuring a custom marble slab where guests can view demonstrations of the hotel’s famous Davenport Peanut Brittle, hand-made fresh daily by an in-house confectionary team. Locally made treats, like house-made Peanut Brittle ice cream, merchandise, sundries and a curated selection of local goods will be available for purchase. Other onsite venues include the Palm Court Grill and the Jazz Age-inspired Peacock Room Lounge.
For events, planners have 34,000 sf to work with: the 2,200-sf Elizabethan Room (110 to 200 attendees), the 4,380-sf Marie Antoinette Ballroom (150 to 320), the 2,976-sf Hall of Doges (300), the 6,253-sf Grand Pennington Ballroom (320-620), the 2,736-sf The Early Bird Room (120-250) and the 3,139-sf Isabella Ballroom (150 to 300). Each space showcases classical architecture from around the world and is equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and A/V equipment.
Plus meetings can spill out to Davenport Hotel's sister properties in Downtown Spokane, including the Davenport Grand, with a total meeting space of 63,177 sf, and The Centennial, with a total space of 30,000 sf. And planners, you'll want to know that the hotel is located near the Spokane Convention Center and 15 minutes from Spokane International Airport. —Paloma Villaverde de Rico
