Walt Disney World Resort: With the eye-popping TRON Lightcycle / Run attraction now racing “Team Blue” into “the Grid” in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park, the Disney Files Magazine staff is here to share a few tips for your first “run,” courtesy of our friend Danielle Levien at the Disney Parks Blog:
The queue (like the world of TRON) is virtual: Just as the TRON films take place in a virtual world, the new attraction is managing demand through a virtual queue. Guests with a valid admission and park reservation on the same date may join the virtual queue through the My Disney Experience app. A standby line is not currently available. To learn more before your trip, visit Disneyworld.com/virtualqueue.
‘Lightning’ strikes the Grid: Another option to access the attraction is Individual Lightning Lane entry, available for purchase through the My Disney Experience app. Open the app on the day of your visit for details about pricing and availability.
Lock it up: New to TRON Lightcycle / Run, a double-sided, digitized locker system stores your bags and loose items while you race your Lightcycle. Inside the attraction queue, these complimentary lockers pair directly with your MagicBand, MagicBand+ or ticket media so you can easily lock and reopen your locker with a quick tap. Cast Members will give Guests without a MagicBand or other physical ticket media a card to access a locker. Note that all loose items must be placed either in a locker before you board your Lightcycle, or in a small compartment located on the attraction vehicle, designed to hold smaller items like cellphones, glasses or wallets. If you’re not sure if your items are small enough to fit in the onboard compartment, we recommend placing them in a locker.
Relive your race: Not all of the technology in your “run” is imagined. Thanks to the team at Disney PhotoPass, real-world tech captures – and automatically links to your My Disney Experience account – an onboard photo and video of your race through “the Grid.” If you’re wearing a MagicBand or MagicBand+ that’s linked to your My Disney Experience account, you’re all set. If you aren’t wearing a band, your mobile device will do the trick. Just make sure that, before you arrive at the attraction, you’ve enabled Bluetooth on your device for the My Disney Experience app, that you’ve logged into the app sometime earlier in the day, and that your device is NOT in low-power mode. Also make sure that your device is onboard with you (safely secured in that onboard compartment we mentioned).
