Meet Penn DiningPenn Dining strives to create the kind of atmosphere that helps you feel right at home. Read on to learn more about our guiding principles. OUR FOOD STANDARDS

Menus are written by chefs based on seasonality and availability of local, fresh ingredients.

We don’t use corporate recipes or cycle menus. We serve food prepared from scratch every day, including our sauces, stocks, and salsas.

Flavors are developed through skilled, healthy cooking techniques, with the use of fresh herbs and authentic spices.

Our team emphasizes and celebrates plant-based foods, resulting in climate-friendly meals that reflect evidence-based principles of health and sustainability.

Meals are prepared in small batches as close to serving time as possible.

SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE DINING

At least 20% of all ingredients are sourced from small farmers and artisans within 150 miles of our kitchens.

Eggs are Certified Humane and cage-free.

With a goal of actively composting all food waste, each of our dining facilities divert food waste and compost using BioBins.

Turkey and chicken are produced without the routine, non-therapeutic use of antibiotics. Our chicken is Certified Humane, sourced from local partner Murray’s Chicken.

Ground beef is locally-sourced or Certified Humane from cattle raised on vegetarian feed and never given antibiotics or hormones.

Milk and yogurt are sourced from dairies not using artificial hormones.

Penn Dining regularly recovers and donates food in our ongoing partnership with Philabundance.

Penn Dining ranked 2^nd in sustainable dining nationwide in 2022 and 2023 in the Food and Dining subcategory of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) STARS assessment.
