Dundreggan Rewilding Centre
At Trees for Life we want to inspire people to engage with the natural world, and in doing so, encourage them to play their part in protecting it. Only by working with nature, exploring its depths and connecting to its magic, can we all positively affect the future for people and for nature.
At the Rewilding Centre, we cannot wait to share some of the wonderful stories that are part of Dundreggan and its natural heritage. There is a wealth of Gaelic folklore, stretching back through the centuries to a time when people lived much more closely with the land. The people of the past and the communities who still live here are integral to the information and activities that will be available at the centre. These stories will help our visitors visualise Dundreggan’s evolution over the years and understand how and why we should continue to rewild this important area and the wider Scottish Highlands.
Connecting with nature is more than looking or listening, we want people to learn about the landscape and be part of it too. Thanks to the generous donations from our supporters, Dundreggan’s new and improved footpath network will give visitors of all walking abilities the chance to explore the estate’s woodlands, heathlands and everything in between. Specialist guided walks will encourage people to get even closer - using all their senses. From foraging to photography, there are so many ways to bring people and nature together.
Rewilding means many different things to different people. The centre will encourage visitors to think about what rewilding means to them and support them in doing it, people can then set their own ambitions for practical action. Sometimes the smallest changes can have the biggest impact and we are looking forward to inspiring more people to take the first step.
The centre is on track to open in March 2023. Now that the buildings are in the final stages of completion, we need the perfect team of friendly faces to greet our visitors and make the journey through Dundreggan the best it can be. Recruitment is underway and we look forward to speaking with the community to discuss opportunities to join the team. There are around 20 roles available within visitor experience, hospitality, facility management and education, so if the Rewilding Centre sounds like somewhere you would love to work, please send us an email at jobs@treesforlife.org.uk
