You have an affinity for golf. On some level, you like the game. You might even love it. We know this from the simple fact that you’re reading this magazine. Well, we have some really good news for you. It doesn’t matter what kind of golfer you are, how good you are, how long you’ve played, how old you are, how often you get out to play or how strict you are with the Rules. The TGA has customized experiences that make the game fun and exciting for the entire spectrum of the golf community.
Here’s the thing: If you like golf, even if it’s just the social aspect of the game, the TGA has numerous opportunities throughout the year for you to play new and exciting courses at steeply reduced rates. From beginners just learning the game to seasoned competitive amateurs preparing for their next statewide championship and everyone in between, the TGA has events, outings and tournaments to satisfy everyone’s level of interest.
Through these diverse playing opportunities, golfers of all kinds can strengthen their love for the game, meet other like-minded people and make new friends, improve as a player and enjoy the rewards of exercise in the outdoors. All of this is available to you. Part of the TGA’s mission is to promote and grow the game so more and more people can reap the benefits. We take this responsibility seriously.
In 2018 alone, for example, we offered 25 competitive tournaments for men, 17 for junior boys and girls through the TGA’s Legends Junior Tour and seven statewide championships for women. We also conducted 37 single-day qualifying tournaments for a broad spectrum of USGA Championships for men, women, juniors and seniors.
Of course not everyone embraces the intensity and stress of tournament golf. Some people – lots, in fact – are just interested in playing golf for fun. We have tons of exciting events for those golfers, too!
TGA Members also receive preferred pricing on AAA Memberships and special offers on stay-and-play packages to some of the finest resorts in the country, such as Pebble Beach, Whistling Straits, Sea Pines Resort, Tahoe Mountain Club and the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, to name just a few.
On the recreational side of things for people who want to get out and play great courses for discounted rates in a laid-back environment, we had 17 outings this year in our popular Fun Golf Series. Since 2013, we’ve continued to add more Fun Golf events to the schedule and that will only increase in the future.
Are team events more your speed? Yep, we have that covered, too. Across all our divisions, we had 19 team events this year, including 10 different team formats in various Fun Golf outings.
But wait, there’s more! If all those exclusive playing opportunities aren’t enough, you’ll also receive a TGA/GHIN Handicap, complete with bi-monthly email revision updates. TGA Members also score a bundle of value-based benefits, such as up to 70% discounts on hotels, rental cars and tickets to sporting events, concerts and theme parks through our members-only Affinity Travel Portal. A TGA Membership can pay for itself the first time you use our connections to score reduced rates on travel or entertainment options.
Over the next few pages, we’ll get more specific and outline all the different ways the TGA caters to every single Texan who has even a passing interest in golf. We truly do have something for everyone.
