That’s how many core golfers – out of the 5,021 surveyed recently by the National Golf Foundation – said they “Expect to play golf in the next week.” The fact that 85% of the respondents will tee it up soon seems to indicate most golfers feel their sport remains a safe and responsible way to exercise while the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
The NGF defines core golfers as U.S. adults who played at least eight rounds in the past 12 months. Core golfers account for nearly 90% of all golf purchases.
In the same survey, 40% of the respondents (2,010 core golfers) said they’ve purchased golf balls in the past 30 days. That appears to be further evidence that recreational golf continues to thrive.
