With summer in full swing, that means there are more daylight hours to spend on the golf course enjoying time with family and friends. It’s also the perfect season to go on an adventure, like playing a round on a course that isn’t part of the normal rotation. If teeing it up under the pure blue skies at someplace different sounds ideal, then check out the TGA’s Fun Golf Series presented by PGA TOUR Superstore. In addition to summertime stops at perennial crowd-pleasers like TPC San Antonio and Bentwater Yacht & Country Club, the TGA has added two new courses to the Fun Golf lineup that are sure to impress and excite.
Coming in September, both Squaw Valley Golf Course and High Meadow Ranch Golf Club will give players the opportunity to grab some golf pals and take a mini road trip to somewhere new for a relaxing day on a spectacular course. (Those who relish the chance to revisit an old favorite are more than welcome to join in the fun, too.)
Squaw Valley is home to two of the top five municipal golf courses in Texas as ranked by The Dallas Morning News. Located in Glen Rose, about an hour drive southwest of Fort Worth, the Apache Links and Comanche Lakes courses at Squaw Valley are very different in character, but both are thoughtfully routed in and around the natural features of the picturesque landscape. The variation and quality of design make this 36-hole facility a perfect one-day getaway for those looking for a memorable golf experience.
High Meadow Ranch Golf Club in Magnolia, about 20 miles due west of The Woodlands, promises another fun-filled day away from the hustle and bustle. One of the state’s most unique layouts, High Meadow Ranch features three six-hole loops titled Forest, Pine Barren and Signature. Each loop goes back to the clubhouse and has different design elements which provide golfers with a wonderful mix of holes and endless excitement. Add in a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere and it’s easy to see why High Meadow Ranch is an ideal setting for a day of golf and relaxation.
Adding these two courses to TGA’s already exceptional Fun Golf Play Day repertoire will give players even more amazing opportunities to change things up during the summertime.
Each Fun Golf Series event features an optional, low-key tournament to sign up for with inclusive formats suitable for all ages and skill levels. Players are flighted based on gender and handicap, with prizes awarded in gross and net divisions. Participation in the competition is never mandatory and neither is turning in a scorecard. Anyone who signs up for a Fun Golf event is welcome to come out and just enjoy playing a relaxing round on a great course.
