It’s all set up to be a match made in golfing paradise. A one-of-a-kind Texas golf destination will be the stunning backdrop for a first-of-its-kind TGA event.
This fall, the inaugural TGA Member’s Cup will be played Oct. 9-10 at Lajitas Resort in the heart of the Big Bend region, and even though it’s brand new to the schedule it’s sure to be one of the most talked-about experiences of the year.
Created to appeal to golfers of all ages and skill levels, the TGA Member’s Cup welcomes teams of two players who each have an up-to-date WHS™ Handicap Index issued through a member club of the TGA to compete in one of three divisions: men’s, women’s, and mixed. Limited to 15 teams (30 players), the Member’s Cup will feature a net Ryder Cup-style format with two-person four-ball (best ball) matches on day one, followed by singles matches on day two.
“The TGA Member’s Cup is designed to be a truly standout offering among all our exclusive benefits that will provide members with the chance to get together for a casual, yet competitive event at one of the best golf resorts in Texas,” said Brian Fry, Director of Outreach/TGA Foundation. “We’re thrilled to launch the inaugural event at our host site, Lajitas Resort, which is celebrated for its unforgettable atmosphere.”
While the team match play showdown will deliver plenty of fun and excitement, the true appeal of the Member’s Cup is the opportunity it provides to get away from it all for a few days to relax and unwind, make new friends, and to play an incredible golf course in a most extraordinary setting.
Tucked away between Big Bend National Park and Big Bend State Park, Lajitas is a world-class resort spanning over 27,000 acres. Its signature Lanny Wadkins-designed course – Black Jack’s Crossing – is currently ranked No. 37 in Golfweek’s prestigious “Best Resort Courses in the U.S.” The layout also holds the No. 1 spot in Golfweek’s “Best Courses You Can Play in Texas” and tops the list of Golf Magazine’s “Most Beautiful Course in Texas” ranking.
Famous for its solitude, natural beauty and rugged desert environment, Lajitas Resort also boasts an impressive list of elevated amenities in addition to award-winning golf that includes luxury accommodations, casual and fine dining, spa and fitness center, movie theater, swimming pools, shooting activities, horseback trail rides, mountain biking, hiking and much more.
“Lajitas is a legendary destination, and we are excited to be able to bring our members to this magnificent resort,” Fry said. “To have our first TGA Member’s Cup be at Lajitas is extra special and we look forward to a fantastic event.”
October may seem like a long way off, but the time is now to make plans to be a part of this unique member-only experience, with its blend of fun, adventure, and competition. Register your team before the field is full and join us this fall for a trip out west where the golf is grander, and the stars shine brighter.
