Nominations for the 2022 Class of the Texas Golf Hall of Fame opened on March 3. The public is urged to nominate qualified individuals before the deadline on April 29.
Following the nomination deadline, the list of nominees will be screened by the induction nominating committee to be sure they meet the eligibility requirements of the specific category for which they were nominated. There shall be no more than eight total nominees per category per induction year. Not all public nominations are guaranteed a place on the official ballot.
Nominations for individuals and courses can be made in five categories: Amateur Player, Golf Professional/Teacher, Lifetime Achievement, Professional Player and the Texas Registry of Historic Golf Courses. This will be the Texas Golf Hall of Fame’s 29th class to be inducted since the Hall’s inception in 1978.
Additional information about the nomination process, categories and requirements for nomination and online nomination form can be found by clicking here.
The 2022 Class will be announced in July and formally inducted on Oct. 17 in San Antonio. Tickets to the fall induction ceremony will be made available to the public. The Class of 2020 included Angela Stanford, Mike Wright, Dow Finsterwald Jr., Hank Kuehne, Verne Lundquist and Oak Hills Country Club (San Antonio).
In addition, the Texas Golf Hall of Fame recently launched a five-year strategic plan that maps out its future goals and initiatives. Numerous initiatives will come to fruition under four main tenets: Members, Education, Partnerships, and Giving.
Among the highest of priorities is to create a one-of-a-kind, world-class digital archive and repository to celebrate and capture the inductees, as well as the rich and diverse history of golf in Texas.
Also, there will be strong emphasis placed on content creation for enhanced social media platform presence. The public is invited to be part of this social media community by following the Texas Golf Hall of Fame on Facebook and Instagram.
