Buffalo Creek Golf Club, about 30
minutes east of downtown Dallas, is surrounded by rolling hills and towering
trees on the eastern shore of Lake Ray Hubbard. This par-71 course, which
measures 7,018 yards from the back tees and debuted in the summer of 1992, was
designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf.
The Creek Course is a favorite
among DFW golfers for its scenic beauty and modern design. The wide rolling
fairways and large undulating green complexes provides a fun test for all ages
and skill levels.
In 1952, noted golf course
architect Press Maxwell transformed this 171-acre plot of land surrounded by
ancient oaks and Five Mile Creek into the Golf Club of Dallas, which hosted the
PGA Tour’s Dallas Open from 1958 to 1962 and then again from 1964 to 1967.
Maxwell's timeless design features tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkering and
small, push-up greens.
The Oaks course was designed by World
Golf Hall of Famer Greg Norman alongside player consultant Sergio Garcia. It has
been the host venue of the PGA Tour’s Valero Texas Open since 2010.
April Sound Country Club, founded
in 1972, is nestled on the gorgeous shoreline of Lake Conroe just north of
Houston, 20 minutes from The Woodlands.
Since 1922, this lush parkland course has been a jewel in
the Houston area. It’s a shorter course that provides an enjoyable experience
with a wonderful variety of holes.
