That’s the total number of USGA National Championships held at Champions Golf Club in Houston, the most of any club in Texas. The iconic private club established in 1959 by multiple Major Championship winners Jack Burke Jr. and Jimmy Demaret first hosted the 1969 U.S. Open, which was won by Orville Moody. The Ralph Plummer-designed Cypress Creek Course also played host to the 1993 U.S. Amateur (won by John Harris) and the 1998 and 2017 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateurs, respectively won by Virginia Grimes and Kelsey Chugg.
