Expectations vs. Training
Lido 3104 | LE02
Presented by
This course explores the gap between what critics expect of law enforcement and the realities of officer training. To hold officers accountable, training must be grounded in the science of how people learn, retain and apply skills under pressure. Yet too often, officers are judged by vague standards that don’t reflect what they were taught or what human performance allows. Participants will examine how psychological and physiological factors shape learning and decision-making under stress, and why training must advance beyond lecture and block practice to realistic, evidence-based scenarios. The course also highlights real-world cases, simulations and stress inoculation strategies that prepare and protect officers in critical moments.

Designing and Building Training Facilities to Provide Use-of-Force Training
Lido 3004 | LE06
Today’s LEOs face greater challenges than ever as they perform duties in environments with supporters, detractors and suspects alike. To prepare officers for use-of-force incidents, training must cover not only weapon mechanics but also when to use firearms versus alternative methods. This course explores the “Training Triangle,” where classroom, range and simulator create comprehensive opportunities. Participants will review effective facility use, best practices and how each environment’s limitations can be balanced by the strengths of others to better equip trainers and instructors in preparing officers for real-world scenarios.
