This issue of ADCES in Practice marks a change for the journal. Teresa Pearson, our editor since the publication’s inception in 2013, decided to step down at the end of 2024. We quickly started our search for a new editor, and Amy Hess-Fischl, MS, RDN, LDN, BC-ADM, CDCES, was chosen.
Amy brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm for this new role. She currently works at the University of Chicago Medical Center, serving as the quality coordinator for the recognized DSMES program. She has a long history of writing and editing for multiple ADCES and ADA publications, journals, and practice documents and is a prolific speaker on a wide range of diabetes-related topics.
From Amy: “It is my honor and privilege to be the new editor for ADCES in Practice. Following Teresa’s exemplary leadership means I have big shoes to fill. However, she has left this wonderful journal with amazing possibilities for the future by continuing to engage all of us to help people with diabetes live their best lives.”
Amy will continue the tradition Teresa set, publishing articles from diabetes care and education specialists from across the country, each sharing their perspective, success stories, lessons learned, and passion for what they do. Please keep those articles coming! ADCES in Practice wouldn’t be what it is without articles written by our members!
You will also start seeing a new content category. We’re asking our committees and other workgroups to contribute practical content that relates to their topic area.
We would like to take a moment to thank our previous editorial team. ADCES in Practice would not be the respected, much anticipated resource it is today if it were not for this amazing group of professionals:
Editor: Teresa Pearson, MS, CNS, MBA, CDCES, FADES
Associate Editor: Karol Carstensen
Department Editor: Jerry Meece, BPharm, FACA, CDCES, FADCES
Department Editor: Lorena Drago, RD, MS, CNS, CDCES
These 4 have worked tirelessly to brainstorm topics, recruit authors, and review articles, and we cannot possibly thank them enough. You will continue to see their handywork in this issue and in our spring issue. They were still working up until the end of 2024, preparing content for future issues!
We look forward to continuing to publish a journal that we hope gives you plenty of ideas, inspiration, and pride in what you do and the difference you make.
Sincerely,
The ADCES Team
