The Denver Public Library’s experience demonstrates the importance of prioritizing accessibility in the digital age. By transitioning to PageRaft, DPL not only modernized its publications but also deepened its connection with the community. Brooks reflected on the potential the PageRaft platform opens for the future, including adding in features that had to be cut from the print editions due to time and budget, such as brand journalism and articles that celebrate the library.
Brooks related, “I think the community has expressed interest in more of that, but our ability to produce that and a printed publication of events has been a bit challenging. So we’ve reduced them over the last year. But in digital format, that’s something I look forward to bringing back.”
Looking to the future, Brooks is hopeful that more organizations will prioritize web content accessibility to ensure all people can access digital equitably. Brooks notes, “PageRaft is the only accessible solution for screen readers, and that’s a really big deal for us as an organization.” Brooks related the desire for other organizations to embrace accessibility standards, adding, “I hope it becomes where PageRaft is the gold standard for accessibility right now, I hope this becomes the floor.”
Nxtbook Media continues to push the PageRaft platform in features and accessibility, delivering beautiful screen-reading experiences for all people accessing content through the Web.
