“I struggled with mental health all throughout high school so despite my academic talent, I was never eager to plan a future for myself. But now I am totally motivated and I’m so happy to be going to college and starting my career. You guys (Northwest) have truly helped push me in the right direction and I won’t let you down. I am extremely grateful.”
Meet Angelika, a 2023 Northwest Foundation Scholarship Winner. For the past year, your Northwest Foundation has been expanding the reach of its scholarship program by building closer relationships with Champions for Children so that we meet students, like Angelika, who finished school a year early with a 4.0 GPA, yet still might not have gone to college without extra support.
After awarding Angelika her scholarship, Northwest Foundation staff realized that as the first in her family to attend college, she needed guidance to complete her financial aid application and navigate the many administrative details associated with college registration. While Angelika did all the work, the Northwest Foundation team was there to help plan each step and reassure her that she was destined to succeed. She begins classes on August 21st.
Your Northwest Foundation is able to provide the financial, practical, and moral support to students like Angelika thanks to donations to the Northwest Foundation by our members. Last month, we awarded $130,000 of scholarships to Angelika and 36 other amazing young scholars, many of whom face the same barriers to starting and finishing college. As we said to Angelika along the way, “Don’t be a stranger. We care as much about you starting college as we do you finishing it.”

“Together, we serve and inspire to transform lives.”
Play golf and send kids to college!
On October 2nd, please join your Northwest Foundation at the 8th Annual Drive for the Driven Golf Tournament - a fun day of golf, camaraderie, and shared commitment to the future of our children. Funds raised at the Drive for the Driven tournament supports your Northwest Foundation's Aspire Higher program that empowers young people to get to and through post-secondary education.
We only have a few foursomes left. Please sign up by visiting the tournament website or by contacting Tirsit Dejen at tdejen@nwfcu.org.
Thank you for your support!
