The 14th hole of the Upper Course at Baltusrol is a picturesque par 4 played directly into Baltusrol Mountain. Gil Hanse’s restoration in 2025 revived the dual greens on the hole, which coexisted from the 1930s through the 1950s. A.W. Tillinghast built the original green on the right (to the line of play) in the early 1920s, while the left green was constructed prior to the 1936 U.S. Open and has been in play ever since. The restored dual greens and multiple teeing areas provide a unique challenge and offer a variety of ways to play the hole. Tee shots should be played up the left side of the fairway since those to the right face a blind uphill approach into both greens. The green on the right is protected by a small creek in front, while bunkers heavily guard the green on the left.
