Ever since 2014, Callaway has introduced fresh Apex irons on a fairly regular interval – they’re sought-after because of the pure feel and outstanding performance they generate. As of now, there are six different models offered in this popular, classic line, including the newly launched Apex Ti Fusion 250 ($350/club), a midsized, game-improvement iron with a sleek chrome-plating finish. Its thick topline, offset and extended blade length ultimately yield extra forgiveness, power, speed and consistent shot dispersion – everything you can hope for. Combining brazed titanium construction and forged steel means that at impact, there’s more face deflection and interaction with urethane microspheres in the cavity for a solid and satisfying feel. Then there’s the Apex Ai150 ($1,600/set) that’s categorized as a player’s performance iron. It promises feel, distance and spin consistency. Like many better irons these days, this has a forged hollow body design, along with a 455 face cup in the 3–through-7-iron and a 17-4 steel face in the short irons for better ball speed and feel throughout. It’s designed for more advanced golfers who are seeking enhanced distance control with short-game precision and control. Especially cool is that you can order it with one of four colored weights in the rear muscle.
