The Faculty Grant Award was presented to retired Associate Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies Daria E. Buese and Coordinator of the Master of Science in Teaching Tracey Lucas for a $1.8 million Maryland State Department of Education Teacher Collaborative Grant.
The grant will support a partnership with Carroll County Public Schools and Carroll County Education Association to establish the Lead Teacher Academy Collaborative, a comprehensive and multifaceted model for professional growth and advancement that is fully aligned to the priorities outlined in the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.
Prior to each of the year’s faculty meetings, faculty members are encouraged to share their recent publications, presentations, and other accomplishments. We are proud of our community’s commitment to excellence inside the classroom, in academia as a whole, and in industry.
Inherently, those who go into the teaching profession — particularly at the college level — have a desire to pass along a love of learning, service, and critical thinking to their students. On the Hill, it’s easy to see the impacts faculty members make on students in these areas, and McDaniel is thrilled to celebrate their successes:
• Christopher Quinn ’23 and Stephanie Eckard ’23 received awards for their senior History papers at the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference.
• Juniors Javon Spencer and Tasir Money, members of McDaniel’s Program in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, participated in the sixth annual Carroll County Hackathon, a tech-based pitch competition presented by the Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory (MAGIC), a nonprofit that works to spur tech and entrepreneurial activity in Carroll County.
• Junior Danielle Carter was named a semifinalist for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, Region II.
