From time to time, the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) Board of Governors (BoG) finds it necessary to amend the Society’s bylaws. An amendment requires a two-thirds vote of the BoG plus approval of IEEE’s Vice President for Technical Activities (VP-TA). At its 22 June 2023 meeting, the BoG approved a number of changes. The VP-TA approved the changes on 19 September. This change is unique in that the VP-TA’s approval was for a two-year period. Following that period, there may be further changes, or the affected portions of the bylaws may return to their former status.
The following is the full text of the additions to and deletions from the bylaws. For brevity, inconsequential changes, additions, and deletions that do not affect the meaning are not shown here. Additions are underlined. Deletions are shown in strikeout type.
Prior to their election, all elected Board of Governors must have been a member of the Society for at least the immediate past five years as well as a participant, during the most recent seven years, in two or more of the positions listed below. Participation, whether simultaneous or sequential, may occur as either one two-year term or two one-year terms. Service in two different positions, whether simultaneous or sequential, is counted as additive unless specified otherwise.
The changes will take effect 30 days after the publication of this article. Those wishing to have a full copy of the VTS bylaws can view a copy on the VTS website at https://vtsociety.org/about/governing-documents/bylaws.
