Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, the top two players in the FedEx Cup standings, each earned eight figures worth of bonuses Sunday by virtue of their regular-season performances.
Scheffler, who won four tournaments, including the PGA Championship and Open Championship, earned $10 million as the top player in the standings following the Wyndham Championship and another $8 million as the No. 1 player in the Comcast Business Tour Top 10. McIlroy, who won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the Players Championship and the Masters, earned a $4 million FedEx Cup bonus and $6 million from the Comcast Business Tour Top 10 pool.
Neither player was in the field at the Wyndham Championship, and although Scheffler will tee it up in this week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship, McIlroy is the only player among the top 70 who opted to skip the playoff opener. READ MORE
Negotiations between the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund over a potential reunification of men’s professional golf remain stagnant, Adam Scott confirmed to reporters Wednesday ahead of the Wyndham Championship.
“Obviously there’s not much happening between [the two sides],” said Scott, a PGA Tour Policy Board player director who was part of two White House negotiating sessions earlier this year. “I don’t know if more White House visits are really necessary. It was really quite an experience, I have to say. Those conversations haven’t advanced far from there, and with [new PGA Tour CEO] Brian [Rolapp] stepping in, a lot of that’s going to fall onto his desk now. I think that he needs some time to kind of really get up to speed and understand what’s going on with that.” READ MORE
LIV Golf’s purses will increase in 2026 as the league pumps more investment into its team operations, Sports Business Journal reported. LIV’s current weekly tournament purses of $25 million will go to $30 million in 2026, four sources familiar with the process told SBJ, and the extra capital will go toward the league’s weekly team competition.
