Cleveland Golf’s all-new CBZ wedge with Z-Alloy features the proprietary material in a cavity-back design for the first time, making it the brand’s most advanced game-improvement model to date.
The CBZ wedge ($179.99) blends the soft, responsive feel of a blade with the enhanced forgiveness of a cavity back, delivering versatility, consistency and control.
At the core of the CBZ wedge is Z-Alloy, a revolutionary lighter and softer steel formula developed exclusively by Cleveland Golf. CBZ Wedges are 25 percent softer and less dense than the previous CBX 4 ZipCore models, while maintaining durability.
“When Z-Alloy was first formulated, it was designed to outperform every wedge material on the market, including 431 stainless steel which is commonly used in cavity-back wedges,” said Boeing Smith, senior research engineer at Cleveland Golf. “While 431 is durable, its hardness and lower density come at the cost of feel. Z-Alloy changes that. It’s significantly softer and less dense than 431, delivering tour-level feedback traditionally reserved for blade wedges.”
CBZ wedges (from 44 to 60 degrees) are built with the same performance-driven DNA as the RTZ wedge, incorporating technologies like ZipCore, which repositions the center of gravity closer to the impact zone for improved MOI (moment of inertia), control and spin. CBZ wedges also feature UltiZip grooves for cleaner contact and consistent spin through turf and debris, while HydraZip face technology enhances spin in wet or challenging conditions. A redesigned TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) insert that’s 94 percent larger helps dampen vibrations.
CBZ also offers a full-face design option (50 to 60 degrees) with hosel-to-toe grooves across the face and extended high-toe area to help maximize contact on more creative shots for more consistent spin, flight and stopping power.
Cleveland Golf also expanded its customization options, allowing an industry-first choice of custom skin designs for their CBZ Wedge along with personalized paintfill and engravings.
