Thanks for your article (“Vandalism trend plagues U.K. courses,” May 12, GGP). Here are some of my thoughts on it:
I think that kids tend to do stupid things together. I just think that they figured no one would see them or bother them at the golf courses.
Here in the U.S., some golfers carry guns, and I think a few shots into the air would have gotten the clowns to scatter.
Is there no video surveillance around clubhouses and course grounds?
I do not know how a golf course can get everything done with only six greenkeepers/staff.
Why aren’t these vandals punished?
Instead of golf lessons for the perpetrators, how about making them do community service for the courses that they helped destroy?

Great message regarding the buying of game-improvement devices (“Divot: Gadgets galore,” May 12, GGP). The best marketing organization in the world, bar none, is the golf industry.
We watch the perfect item become obsolete right before our eyes, almost before we remove the protective wrap. I give ’em credit, just like I give ’em money. Reluctantly, but the answer is only one purchase away.
