Katsuhiro Miura, a noted golf club designer and founder of Miura Golf, has died, his company announced Wednesday. He was 82.
Miura began making clubs at 16 and founded Miura Manufacturing Co. Ltd. in his native Japan in 1977. He became known for making forged irons, wedges and putters of exceptional quality. Under the supervision of Miura’s sons, Shinei and Yoshitaka, Miura clubs are still designed and forged in the company’s factory in Himeji, Japan. Justin Rose and Adam Scott are among the tour players who play Miura irons.
“The pathway to creating a legacy is loving what you do. Miura-san never sought the spotlight – his passion was the quiet, relentless pursuit of perfection,” said Bill Holowaty, Miura Golf’s chief operating officer. READ MORE
