A TrackMan-compatible app combines individual player information and launch-monitor data to provide an efficient way for golfers to fit and find the best Titleist golf ball model for their game.
Using data from 12 representative shots hitting a Titleist Pro V1 golf ball, each shot result is fed into a proprietary algorithm developed by data gathered from thousands of golf ball fittings to deliver a Titleist golf ball recommendation.
“Our goal with the new fitting app is to make golf ball fitting more accessible and convenient,” said Jeremy Stone, senior VP of golf ball marketing and U.S. sales. “Every day, we see the benefits of golfers finding the right flight, spin and feel for their games, but we also know that selecting the correct model can be difficult without the necessary information or the right process. The Titleist Golf Ball Fitting App gives us the scale to meet more golfers on the fitting tee and provide them an accurate golf ball recommendation that is unique to them.”
A fitting using the Titleist Golf Ball Fitting App can be completed in as little as 15 minutes. The process begins with the golfer answering questions regarding course conditions, playing style and golf ball preferences preceding the hitting session. The fitter conducting the session will ask the golfer about his or her current golf ball choice, handicap, typical green firmness, preferred golf ball feel, preferred trajectory window and more.
Golfers then hit three of each of the following shots: half-swing wedge, full-swing pitching wedge, 7-iron and driver. The process puts particular emphasis on a golfer’s scoring shots, with the knowledge that every Titleist golf ball can achieve maximum distance off the tee with a proper driver fitting.
The launch-monitor data and golfer information are run through the app’s proprietary algorithm, resulting in a personalized recommendation among Titleist golf ball models: Pro V1, Pro V1x, Pro V1x Left Dash and AVX.
Each golf ball is differentiated based upon flight, spin, and feel. Pro V1 delivers mid-flight trajectory, very high short game spin and a soft feel. Pro V1x flies higher, spins more in the long game and feels firmer. Pro V1x Left Dash will have a high flight with significantly lower full swing spin and a firmer feel. AVX flies lower than Pro V1, and it spins less in the long game with an even softer feel.
