The college golf postseason was scheduled to begin today with six NCAA Division I women’s regionals that will determine the field for the NCAA Championship later this month.
The three-day, 54-hole regionals – 12 five-woman teams and six individuals from non-qualifying teams – were set for Auburn (Alabama) University Club; Bermuda Run (North Carolina) Country Club; Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas; Tumble Creek Club in Cle Elum, Washington; Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Michigan; and Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The low five teams and top individual from non-qualifying teams will advance from each regional to the NCAA Championship on May 17-22 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. Defending national champion Wake Forest, the Atlantic Coast Conference champion, will be the top-seeded team in the Bermuda Run regional.
On the men’s side, selections were announced Wednesday for the six Division I regionals that will decide the national-championship field. Regional play will be held May 13-15 at six sites: University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas; University Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, North Carolina; The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, California; Stanford (California) Golf Course; and Birck Boilermaker Golf Club in West Lafayette, Ind. Defending national champion Florida will be the No. 3-seeded team in West Lafayette.
