In fact, so much so that I’m thinking of getting a second phone that has only golf items, so that my life away from my round does not impact my four-hour retreat from the world.

On John Steinbreder’s article on technology, I could not agree more (“High-tech intrusion,†November 6, GGP).
The game is difficult enough even when you are trying to focus only on golf. The Golf Genius program, although well-intentioned, is a distraction to enjoying the game and a tournament competition.
Unlike the rest of my family, I also do not do Venmo, and I enjoy paying a caddie with cash. It’s much easier and simpler.
