Digging into its 1980s archives for vintage style inspiration, Adidas’ MC80 shoes deliver all the modern tech in a gender-neutral classic spikeless footwear design.
The new MC80 spikeless footwear silhouette is infused with premium materials and technologies in a crisp and clean design out of its 1980s vault, taking a cue from the retro-style footwear trend. Designers used a heritage model like the “Cherry Hill” from 1987 as inspiration and subtly blended in today’s comfort and performance tech.
“Golfers today are very much intrigued by the footwear styles from the past, but they also want a shoe that can offer modern-day performance benefits out on the course,” said Masun Denison, global director of footwear at Adidas Golf. “The biggest surprise that they will discover is how comfortable these shoes are out of the box, but then they’ll notice the stability and traction to go along the rich finish in the upper. It’s a unique model that we’re excited for golfers to experience.”
The MC80 ($180) features a lightweight and flexible leather upper with brogue stitch detail and croc texturing throughout and lacks the stiffness of the older models. Adidas combined “Lightstrike” in the midsole with “Boost” cushioning concealed in the heel for comfort and stability. In the outsole, the MC80 features a bar to provide golfers with additional torsion control and a spikeless TPU outsole adds traction.
The MC80 was first introduced in a limited-edition model as part of the Adidas x Bogey Boys collection. New colorways for the MC80 will feature a classic white and black, white with pops of yellow and a special off white and light blue limited-edition model exclusively for adiClub members on adidas.com.
