When the PGA Tour officially releases its 2024 schedule this week, it will look much like the current schedule, with a few tweaks.
The 2024 lineup, returning to a calendar-year schedule, will be highlighted by the four major championships, the Players Championship and eight other “signature series” events. The schedule was first reported last week by Golfweek’s Eamon Lynch and confirmed by a PGA Tour source to Global Golf Post.
The signature series will be similar to the designated events this year, with two key changes. The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am will replace the WM Phoenix Open as an upgraded tournament. According to reports, three of the signature series events – the Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational and Memorial Tournament – will have a 36-hole cut despite their limited field size of up to 80 players.
The signature events are expected to offer at least $20 million in prize money. In a recent memo to players, PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said the 2024 schedule will be released during the first week of the playoffs, which begin this week in Memphis, Tennessee, and will include “record-setting total compensation for the coming season,” a direct response to the challenge created by LIV Golf.
In addition to Pebble Beach, the RBC Heritage, Wells Fargo Championship and Travelers Championship will have a no-cut format.
In another change, the Wells Fargo Championship will move to the week immediately preceding the PGA Championship in May, and the Memorial will be played the week before the U.S. Open in June in an effort to bunch the biggest events together.
The ’24 schedule will stretch into Labor Day weekend to accommodate the Olympic Games, during which the men's golf competition is scheduled for Aug. 1-4 at Le Golf National near Paris.
