With its new Apex Black irons, Callaway Golf offers a players’ distance forged blade iron designed with all the tech and performance benefits of its Apex 21 irons presented in a sleek black plasma PVD finish specifically designed to withstand regular use.
The Apex Black offers improved spin consistency using its artificial intelligence-designed Flash Face Cup along with increased forgiveness from its massive tungsten energy core. The unique architecture in each iron promises higher ball speeds and increased spin across the face to provide more distance and pinpoint control.
“This is what you want in a forged iron,” said Xander Schauffele. “Everything from the performance to the feel, launch and control is so dialed in. It’s that good.”
The body of the iron is 100 percent forged from a 1025 mild carbon steel body, and Callaway’s patented urethane microspheres promise to deliver exceptional sound and feel at impact. The enhanced sole shaping also provides better turf interaction, giving the Apex Black a coveted combination of superior look, performance and feel on every swing.
With five times the tungsten of the Apex 19, engineers have precisely positioned the center of gravity to promote more consistent launch throughout the set as well as increased forgiveness on off-center shots.
The stock shaft is True Temper Elevate MPH 95 Black Shaft and grip is Golf Pride Z Grip Soft (black). Sticks are available in 4-iron through AW, retailing for $215 per club in steel or $229.28 per stick in UST Recoil Dart Black 75 graphite.
