Sourcing is such a critical component when it comes to sweaters. It is also one of the things done better than most by Eddie Fadel, a longtime player in the golf apparel business who orchestrated the relaunch of the iconic Ashworth brand earlier this year.
The latest example of that is a strategic alliance Fadel struck earlier this year with a family-owned and operated mill in the game’s ancestral home of Scotland. It has led to the recent release of new lines of pullovers and cardigans made of Merino wool and cashmere.
“The quality of the craftsmanship in these pieces is exceptional,” Fadel said in referencing his partner, which has been in business for more than two centuries. “So are the materials, which are locally sourced and truly sustainable. And we could not be happier with the results.”
According to Fadel, the cashmere sweaters in the Ashworth Golf line come in four styles: V-neck, crew neck, cardigan and quarter-zip pullover, while the Merino wool versions are crew neck, pullover quarter-zip and cardigan only. Prices range from $198 to $398 per item.
