Once again, Callaway Golf engineers turned to artificial intelligence when it came to designing their new Apex 21 and Apex Pro hybrids. And the Jailbreak Velocity Blades those specialists produced using that technology are designed to create more speed low on the clubface, where mis-hits are most likely to occur. They say the blades also allow the Face Cup to flex on the crown, which promotes better spin-rate consistency, and the torsional stiffness they enhance leads to more forgiveness across the face.
AI also was employed in the creation of Flash Face SS21, made to bolster ball speeds no matter where a golfer makes contact.
Those are in many ways regarded as the key features of the new hybrids. But company officials also tout the tungsten weighting used in the Apex 21s so they could position the center of gravity more precisely in order to promote a higher launch and even more forgiveness. And the adjustable hosel with these clubs makes it easier for players to customize loft, trajectory and control.
With regard to the Apex Pros, which are targeted for better golfers, they boast more compact shaping and come with a fixed hosel, so they have the look of an iron at address. That is important to that target group, and so is the use of forged 455 steel in the face, for better speed and spin consistency.
