It’s hard to get tired of Mallorca’s stunning scenery and sunny disposition. But a fabulous new five-star hotel/villa complex and a major revamp at one of the island’s top golf clubs is the perfect reason to discover Mallorca all over again.
Blending the old with the new can create something special – as guests at the new Carrossa Hotel Spa Villas will testify.
Situated in the north-east of Mallorca, near the historic town of Artà, the five-star resort, with just 75 luxurious rooms and suites, was once an old farmhouse. But, after opening in May 2018, it has proved an attractive new destination for those looking to discover an authentic Mallorcan experience in stunning surroundings.
Away from some of the tourist hotspots, it offers tranquillity and peace – with the added bonus of outstanding facilities and an incredible dining experience to enjoy at any of the resort’s restaurants.
Rustic, yet modern: There is an obvious nod to a bygone era, but with 21st-century technology and luxury creating the ideal combination. Real care and attention has been paid to every last detail of the experience to ensure that the balance is struck perfectly.
If golf is on your agenda, Carrossa is an ideal place to base yourself. There are three very good courses just 15 minutes away: Capdepera, Canyamel and Son Servera.
A little further afield but still less than 40 minutes away, you will find Alcanada – about which we will learn more on the next page – and Son Gual, two courses which always feature at the top of the Mallorca rankings. But there are plenty to choose from on Mallorca, to suit all abilities and offering a wide variety of challenges.
Perhaps, after a round or on a day when the clubs are taking a well-earned break, gazing out over the landscape from the terrace of the Badia Bistro with a beverage of choice may not erase all of life’s worries, but it can certainly help push them aside for a while.
If you are casting your mind back to those golfing highlights, those memories can only be enhanced. But if things haven’t gone your way on the golf course, it’s also the perfect place to forget about it.

Around an hour from Palma airport, there is an international flavour at the resort, with all nationalities welcomed and mingling together, while the complex has been sensitively sculpted into the environment.
Aside from a five-star hotel with an exceptional spa, there are now four villas on site, which can house groups of up to 10 people with ease and comfort. Two of these are new for 2019 – a four-bedroom version and a five-bedroom property – which are brimming with comfort and style. A group of friends or extended family can combine their socialising together and find their privacy for a get-together, but all within just a few steps of the exceptional services on offer throughout the main hotel.
Owned by Hamacher Hotels & Resorts, the hotel is centred around the old Manor House, in which you will find 30 of Carrossa’s 75 rooms and suites. The exterior is old sandstone but inside you find modern style – the slick Oro Bar, for example, has raspberry-coloured bar stools and a comfy lounge dominated by silver and pink floral patterned chairs.
Next to the Oro Bar is the fine dining Carrossa restaurant, whose menu includes innovative Mediterranean dishes and Asian influences. Mallorcan wines on offer include award-winning cabernet sauvignons and viogniers from Bodegas Angel, halfway between Palma and Inca. The more informal Badia Bistro and those incredible views are just a few steps away.
Carrossa is home to a stunning 1,500m2 state-of-the-art wellness centre, designed and built to the highest specification, with saunas, steam bath, ice fountain, and a wide selection of massage, beauty, and special treatments, as well as a high-tech gym.
The former manor ground gardens of Carrossa are also home to an inviting, heated, outdoor panoramic infinity pool and deck.
Away from the golf courses, if you’re looking for culture and secluded beaches, there is plenty to enjoy nearby and places to explore – either on foot or on one of the many cycle routes.
And if those limbs need a spot of rejuvenation upon your return, those aches and pains will be soothed away at Carrossa.
