Cobra Golf’s fourth generation of King Forged Tec irons are sleeker and softer, with three variations offering three significant improvements on previous versions.
With a more precise five-step forging process for the body and face, a sleeker topline with reduced offset for a preferred players look at address, and hollow-body design filled with a lighter and softer foam for improved sound and feel, the new King Forged Tec irons provide enhanced distance with improved stability in a more compact shape.
The Forged Tec Irons are available in a variable or one-length setup, which both fall into the “players' distance” category and are designed for better players in the low- to mid-handicap range. A 20-gram tungsten toe weight places the center of gravity behind the sweet spot for pure-feeling ball strikes with added stability on off-center hits.
The Forged Tec One Length irons are configured with a constant, 7-iron-length setup. Having every iron the same length promotes one repeatable setup, posture, and swing, for more consistency. Cobra’s engineers have manipulated the design of each iron to match the weight and length of a 7-iron, allowing for optimal distances and gapping between irons.
The 2022 edition debuts a third model called the Forged Tec X, which offers more forgiveness in a players’ game-improvement shape designed for mid- to higher-handicaps. It features a lower CG design, lower profile, a slightly thicker topline, and stronger lofts than the Forged Tec irons. It also utilizes a massive 65-gram tungsten weight to lower the CG and maximize stability for higher launch despite the stronger lofts.
The irons are available in seven-piece sets – the Forged Tec (4-PW), One Length (5-GW) and Tec X (5-GW) – at suggested retail of $1,199 in steel or $1,299 in graphite.
