With the launch of its first handcrafted putter, LA Golf claims to solve the most common problems for typical golfers by increasing the sweet spot and incorporating a descending loft face in an all-carbon head.
The carbon composite head purportedly allows for a 50-percent larger sweet spot compared to a comparably weighted head of a competitive model. The performance advantages include a large diameter anti-vibration shaft, stainless steel hosel and descending loft face technology.
“I would challenge any golfer to try this putter and feel the difference for themselves,” said Reed Dickens, founder and CEO of LA Golf.
LA Golf acquired SIK Golf, the creator of the descending loft face technology. Its putter features four descending degrees of loft, so regardless of shaft lean at impact, it can yield more consistent and predictable rolls.
“Most golfers miss the sweet spot the majority of the time, and when they do, it changes the speed and line of the putt. This causes players to regularly miss putts they would otherwise make, even if read correctly,” said Bryson DeChambeau, an LA Golf playing partner and the 2020 U.S. Open champion. “LA Golf solved this issue by creating a putter that gives you a higher probability of hitting the sweet spot.”
The ultra-stiff, large diameter putter shaft prevents wiggle in the head at impact, helping the ball roll straighter on the intended line.
“My mind was blown when I first tried the LA Golf putter. It just rolls so pure off the face,” said Michelle Wie West, an LA Golf playing partner.
The LA Golf Putter is priced at $1,500 and is currently only offered right-handed in lengths from 33 to 36 inches, with a Jumbo Lite grip and free engraving.
