PRESENTING
WOMEN’S MID-AMATEUR
FIRST TEAM
Maria Anetseder
Germany
Winner, European Mid-Amateur
The European Mid-Amateur was rated as the second-best strength of field for women’s mid-am golf in 2021, and Anetseder won by erasing a three-shot deficit in the final round. She’s just the second player to win the championship, which was created in 2019, after Myrte Eikenaar won the first two editions.
Kim Benedict
Bonita Springs, FlORIDA
Winner, Florida Women’s Mid-Amateur
Top 10, Florida Women’s Open (Pro)
Top 5, Florida Women’s Stroke Play
Benedict needed clutch play down the stretch of the Florida Women’s Mid-Amateur to edge the likes of Meghan Stasi, Jamie Freedman and Susan Glasby, three players on this All-Am list.
Blakesly Brock
Chattanooga, TennESSEE
Winner, U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur
Winner, Tennessee Women’s Mid-Amateur
In her first appearance in the U.S. Women’s Mid-Am, Brock became the third-youngest woman to win the tournament. She joined fellow Tennessean Sarah Ingram and mid-amateur stalwart Lauren Greenlief as the youngest champions.
Clare Connelly
Chevy Chase, MARYLAND
Quarterfinalist, U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur
Round of 64, U.S. Women’s Amateur
Top 5, Maryland Women’s Amateur
Reaching match play of both the U.S. Women’s Amateur and U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur is a pretty major accomplishment given how young the women’s amateur game trends. Props to Connelly for pulling it off this year.
Lauren Greenlief
Ashburn, VIRGINIA
Runner-Up, Allied Golf Association Women’s Amateur
Top 5, Virginia Women’s Stroke Play Championship
Few, if any, women mid-amateurs play as much competitive golf as Greenlief does. She consistently tested herself in regular amateur events and had solid showings in a season that saw five top-6 results in WAGR-counting events.
Amanda Jacobs
Portland, OreGON
Semifinalist, U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur
Winner, Pacific Northwest Women’s Mid-Amateur
Runner-Up, Ladies National Golf Association Mid-Amateur
Jacobs tallied top-5 finishes in six WAGR-counting events. A top-5 at the AGA Women’s Amateur, where the best of the women’s mid-amateurs were in contention, was a solid resume booster for the Oregonian.
Shannon Johnson
Norton, MassACHUSETTS
Runner-Up, Women’s Massachusetts Amateur
Top 5, Allied Golf Association Women’s Amateur
Johnson is a regular on the women’s mid-amateur list, and she had another strong year by making a trip to the Women’s Mid-Am semifinalist and coming close at the Women’s Massachusetts Amateur, the Francis Ouimet Memorial Tournament and the AGA Women’s Amateur.
Tara Joy-Connelly
North Palm Beach, FlORIDA
Winner, Women’s Southern Golf Association Mid-Amateur
Round of 16, U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur
Joy-Connelly is a constant in the women’s mid-amateur game. Her win at the Women’s Southern Golf Association Mid-Am was rated as the third-best win for a women’s mid-am event this year.
CÉline Manche
Belgium
Top 5, European Mid-Amateur
Made Cut, LET Terre Blanche Ladies Open (Pro)
Top 10, Belgian International Amateur
Manche is the No. 1 women’s mid-amateur in the world, mostly because she consistently plays and performs admirably in regular amateur events throughout Europe.
Meghan Stasi
Fort Lauderdale, FlORIDA
Winner, Allied Golf Association Women’s Amateur
Winner, Ladies National Golf Association Mid-Amateur
Round of 64, U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur
The women’s mid-am legend won two of the biggest events on the calendar, taking the LNGA Mid-Am by five strokes and narrowly edging a talented field in the AGA Women’s Amateur.
Dawn Woodard
Greer, SOUTH CAROLINA
Quarterfinalist, U.S. Women’s Mid-Am
Top 5, Women’s Southern Golf Association Amateur
Woodard is a virtual lock to make match play every year in the U.S. Women’s Mid-Am, and this time she advanced to the quarterfinals. She also finished runner-up to Stasi in the LNGA Mid-Am.
