Callaway Golf officials describe their new family of Epic Max Star clubs as being “the height of ultra-lightweight performance,” and that includes the irons that are a part of the line.
What stands out most with these clubs is the Flash Face Cup, which was fashioned through artificial intelligence. Company technicians say that process allowed them to bolster ball speed for greater distance, and to improve control as well as what they call “spin robustness.”
In addition to possessing a body of forged, 1025 mild carbon steel, these irons also employ Callaway’s patented urethane microspheres, largely to improve sound and feel at impact. Also, enhanced shaping of the clubheads is designed to enhance turf interaction. And the inclusion of a massive Tungsten Energy Core is made to promote easier launch characteristics while taking forgiveness to a higher level.
A part of the overall effort to lower the actual weight of the clubs in this series is to increase clubhead speed. The Epic Mas Star irons come stock with an Attas Speed shaft and a Winn Dri-Tac Lite grip.
