Following the introduction earlier this fall of next-generation distance irons, Honma Golf released fairways and hybrids that are part of that same TR21 family.
Officials from the Japanese concern say the first things golfers will notice about those clubs – the TR21 F fairways and TR21 H hybrids – is their compact and classic profile. They also are endowed with lots of modern adjustability.
The TR21 F fairways feature a SUS630 steel body and a thin, high-strength steel face, to bolster ball speed. Two adjustable sole weights allow players to fine-tune launch and trajectory, while a pair of sole weights work with the smaller profile and shallow face to enhance feel and improve speed through the turf.
As for the TR21 H hybrids, they, too, employ a SUS630 body and a thin, high-strength steel face with a variable-thickness design made to increase ball speed. A centrally located sole weight is included largely to optimize the center of gravity.
“The TR21 F fairways and TR21 H hybrids inspire serious shot-making and back it up with excellent speed off the clubface and desirable ball flight control,” said Mark Myrhum, director of global product for the company. “All golfers, but particularly those looking for a compact shape that suits their eye, will appreciate the artful craftsmanship.”
At the same time, Honma brought out a specialty fairway designed to be used off the tee as well as off the deck. Dubbed the TR21 FTi BIG-LB, it boasts a thin-walled titanium body and heavy steel sole plate to push CG low and give players a distance-oriented 3-wood with low spin, fast ball speed and better forgiveness.
The TR21 F fairways are available in lofts of 15, 16.5, 18 and 21 degrees, while the TR21 H hybrids are offered at 18, 21 and 24 degrees. With regards to the TR21 FTi BIG-LB fairway, it is sold in a 14-degree edition.
