Steve Ellis, a founding member of Global Golf Post’s editorial team, died last Wednesday at age 67. Ellis served as deputy editor, beginning in the months leading up to GGP’s debut issue on Jan. 11, 2010, and throughout its first three years of publication.
During his time with the magazine, Ellis anchored the “word side” of GGP’s week-to-week production. He was driven by parallel passions: a deep and abiding love for the game of golf, and meticulous attention to bringing out the best in the stories written about it.
“Steve was there at the beginning,” said publisher Jim Nugent. “He was important in the early days, bringing experience, grit and great humor to the launch squad at The Post. He was bonding glue ... he helped bring us together and create our culture.”
