Cleveland Golf’s latest wedge offerings have distinctly different performance attributes. But all are designed to make it easier for golfers to hit critical short-game shots.
First up is the Cleveland CBX Full-Face, which takes its name from the Rotex Face Milling extended across the entire face for better spin and stopping power. That club also features a high-toe profile that company engineers say is ideal for open-face shots. The half-cavity design, with a cavity near the heel and solid muscleback on the toe, pushes the center of gravity away from the heel and more in line with strike patterns for better consistency and feel. And the wedge boasts a low, C-shaped sole grind, which is optimized for open-face shots and provides relief on the heel and toe for easier and more unhindered face manipulation.
The other wedge is the Smart Sole 4, which boasts three different models. The C is engineered for chip shots, the S to make it easier to save par from the sand and the G for additional forgiveness on approach shots into the green. All three have an extra wide, three-tiered sole with an extra leading-edge bounce to promote stability and ensure cleaner contact. A technology called Upgraded Feel Balancing is included to move the center of gravity closer to the sweet spot, while aggressively milled grooves are designed to channel moisture and debris away from the impact zone, for enhanced spin no matter what the weather or turf conditions.
The CBX Full-Face is sold in four loft options (56, 58, 60 and 64 degrees). As for the Smart Sole 4 wedges, they come in three different lofts: the C (42 degrees), the G (50 degrees) and the S (58 degrees).
