The newly released, fully re-engineered golf ball offerings from Callaway are premium, four-piece products designed for players who want tour-level performance. They are available in two models – Chrome Soft and Chrome Soft X – and they boast slightly different technologies.
The Chrome Soft ball features a Dual SoftFast core with a larger inner portion that is made to produce a higher launch and lower spin as well as a thinner, firmer outer portion that is reinforced with graphene for better durability and more wedge spin. The ball also boasts a new mantle system that uses a proprietary ionomer blend to create more efficient energy transfer. And the urethane cover of this edition is thinner and more resilient and works with the core and mantle to provide what Callaway technicians describe as “unparalleled feel.” In addition, those technicians optimized the aerodynamic design for longer distance and consistently higher ball flight.
As for the Chrome Soft X ball, it comes with a new high-speed core that is also larger and designed to generate higher ball speeds, especially off the driver and with higher swing speeds. The ball also has a Dual Mantle system, with a soft inner and firmer outer also made to bolster ball speed. A thinner urethane cover is included to help that as well, while also optimizing spin and enhancing feel. And this model also is endowed with a new aerodynamic pattern to reduce drag, for longer distance and more consistent trajectory.
The Chrome Soft ball comes in white and yellow versions that are available with the Triple Trak alignment system and Truvis technology, and a soccer-ball style pattern designed for improved visibility. The Chrome Soft X ball is being sold in white, with Triple Trak offered in that color, and yellow, with or without Truvis technology.
