Ping’s new G710 iron line features a hollow-body design that uses 17-4 stainless steel as well as a face made of maraging steel, an aerospace-grade alloy that provides strength and flexibility for launching shots higher and farther. In addition, high-density tungsten toe and heel weights are included to increase the moment of inertia by some 5 percent, for improved forgiveness.
“The G710 iron is our longest, most forgiving iron to date,” said Ping president John K. Solheim. “It’s engineered for golfers who want to maximize both distance and forgiveness. In designing it, we also advanced other important attributes such as consistency, sound and feel without sacrificing performance.”
In addition to being the most forgiving irons they manufacture, Ping engineers say the G710s are the largest. That is a big reason why they endowed these sticks with a “hydropearl stealth chrome finish” with black PVD coating. The darker finish, they aver, creates the perception of a smaller, more compact head as it also helps to repel water and improve performance through the turf and in wet conditions.
Solheim is also quick to point out that the G710 irons come standard with Arccos Caddie Smart grips and a free trial of the Arccos Caddie app.
“I personally started using Arccos more than a year ago and have seen significant improvement across my entire game,” Solheim adds. “It helps me during a round with club selection, and I really enjoy analyzing all the data afterwards to uncover areas to help me play better.”
