Lee, 21, held a three-shot lead entering the final round at 13th Beach Golf Links and closed with a 4-under 68 that included a chip-in birdie on the par-4 first. He finished two strokes ahead of New Zealand’s Ryan Fox, who closed with a 64. Lee (above) finished at 19-under 269.
No one truly challenged Lee during the final round. He extended his lead to four strokes with a birdie on the par-4 fourth, but Australian Marcus Fraser trimmed it back to three with a birdie of his own at No. 5. Fraser never got closer, finishing with a final-round 70 and a share of third place with countryman Travis Smyth (closing 70) and Frenchman Robin Sciot-Siegrist (68).
Fox’s bogey-free 64 included an eagle at the last, which set the clubhouse target at 17 under. After bogeying the par-3 17th, Lee led Fox by one stroke, but he birdied the par-5 18th to clinch the title.
“I was super, super proud of him. It was really cool to just even be here with him and even watch him the last two holes,” Minjee said. “Just to see him play, I haven’t really seen him play that much, so to be able to have a win here is really cool.”
“My sister and I winning the same tournament, it’s pretty special,” Min Woo said. “I’ve got bragging rights now so it’s even better.
“It’s awesome. (The) Vic Open, it’s the home open. Especially as it’s the European Tour, it’s big. I’m over the moon.
“I thought coming in I had a really good chance because I was hitting it really good but I think I impressed myself with the game this whole week.
“I felt really comfortable just because if I did exactly the same as yesterday, I felt pretty hard to stop. I started off really hot off the gate and it was pretty comfortable those last few holes. It got a bit nervy but I’m pretty proud of the way I finished.”
