The golf world is still buzzing about Keegan Bradley being named U.S. Captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup at New York’s Bethpage Black. Golf.com took a deep dive into how the U.S. Ryder Cup Committee worked its way through the process that led to Bradley’s selection as the U.S. Team’s leader. According to the story, outgoing PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh suggested a “generational kind of change” in selecting an under-50 captain for the U.S. side. The story also quotes PGA of America Golf Professional Frank Darby, Bradley’s college coach at St. John’s, as saying Bradley does a great job of surrounding himself with people who will help him excel as U.S. Ryder Cup Captain.

The popularity of golf is bringing many new players into the game, with some of them blitzing their way into the game from sports like football. New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner is getting plenty of attention for his social media-friendly obsession with learning golf, and The Wall Street Journal recently published a story about the All Pro and the PGA of America Golf Professional who offered him some help. The story includes a vignette about Justin Kraft, PGA, the Director of Instruction at Spring Hill Golf Club in Wayzata, Minnesota, tweeting a video response to a swing video Gardner had posted. The tip – to get Gardner’s arms higher on his backswing – was well-received, and the football star tweeted his thanks back at Kraft, who has more than 135,000 followers of his own on Instagram. The story quotes Kraft as saying about golf instruction online, “You can find content for almost any golf question, any golf topic, any golf problem that you have. It really has boomed.”

It’s never too early to start thinking about next year, and that’s definitely happening as preparations continue for the 2025 PGA Championship. Tickets went on sale last month, and the Charlotte Business Journal reported on the demand and excitement building in North Carolina for Quail Hollow Club to play host (after hosting previously in 2017, pictured). Championship Director Jason Soucy is quoted as saying organizers expect a daily capacity of 40,000 people on site, including patrons, staff and media. 120,000 people had signed up for ticket pre-sales, putting Quail Hollow on pace to match or exceed the record revenue and ticket sales from this year’s PGA Championship at Louisville’s Valhalla Golf Club. The story also reports that all tickets to the 2025 PGA Championship will include snacks, entrees and non-alcoholic beverages for attendees.link: https://bit.ly/4cXx9VZe
