David Ujihara will be adding another NCGA title to his trophy room.
Ujihara denied NCGA Hall of Famer Casey Boyns a chance for a three-peat as the Brea native took home the NCGA Super Senior Match Play title with a 2 and 1 victory at Spyglass Hill.
This is Ujihara's second NCGA title this season. In March, he took home the NCGA Super Senior Four-Ball Championship with partner Craig Calkins.
"It is kinda of nice to win something else," Ujihara said. "For this victory to be an individual one, I am super stoked for this one."
Boyns lead the match 1 up heading into the back nine. The match flipped on the par-4 10th hole when Ujihara made bogey while Boyns made double.
The AmataurGolf.com member took the lead with a clutch birdie on the par-4 13th hole and never looked back.
"I was trying to keep Casey from adding to his Hall of Fame status," Ujihara laughed. "I was just trying to keep up with Casey."
Ujihara would make two more birdies on the back nine before the match wrapped up on the par-4 17th hole.
This is a week that the 71-year-old will never forget.
