NCGA Hall of Famer and Bay Area legend Lucious Bateman now has his own museum.
On Sept. 18, the Lucious Bateman Museum at Chuck Corica Golf Complex in Alameda officially opened its doors.
The museum, located inside the Lucious Bateman Memorial Driving Range Clubhouse, features photos, memorabilia and information about Bateman, who was inducted into the NCGA Hall of Fame in 2022.
A renowned instructor and great player himself, Bateman taught hundreds of Bay Area youth during the 1950s and 1960s. Known as Bateman’s Boys, among his many pupils are some greats---John Lotz and Dick Lotz, Al Braga, Don Baucom, Gary Plato and the late major champion Tony Lema, who went on to win the 1964 British Open and 12 tour events.
