The American Golf Industry Coalition (AGIC), comprised of the leading voices in golf, hosted its 18th annual National Golf Day May 4 in Washington D.C.
The event, which lasted three days—May 4-6—featured a host of representatives from all corners of the golf industry converging on Capitol Hill to discuss key issues affecting the industry with policymakers.
National Golf Day brings together industry associations, partners, and leaders in the nation’s capital to celebrate the many ways in which the sport and industry positively impact the economy, people, communities and charities.
Golf has reached unprecedented heights in recent years. Participation continues to surge, with 48.1 million Americans engaging with the sport in 2025—a 55% increase over the past decade, including significant growth among women (+46%), people of color (+61%), and junior players (+58%). The sport generates $102 billion in direct economic output, or $226 billion when indirect activity is included, supports 2.1 million jobs and sustains more than 15,000 small businesses nationwide. “Golf continues to lead by example—economically, socially and environmentally,” said Greg McLaughlin, CEO of First Tee and AGIC, a division of the World Golf Foundation. “The game’s impact reaches far beyond the course. It supports jobs and local businesses, strengthens physical and mental wellness, and preserves thousands of acres of green space that benefit communities across the country. Our industry’s strength lies in a shared commitment to sustainability, inclusion, and opportunity—values that unify every corner of the game. National Golf Day offers a powerful platform to share that story with lawmakers, celebrate our progress, and continue charting a path that ensures golf remains accessible and thriving for generations to come.”
