Former world No.1 ranked player Justin Rose had to wait an extra day, but it was well worth it.
Rose wrapped up a final round 6-under 66 at Pebble Beach Golf Links on a Monday to capture the annual AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am by three shots over co-runners-up Brando Wu and Brendon Todd in early February. Sunday’s final round carried over to Monday due to inclement weather.
“I feel like I’ve been fortunate enough to win at some great venues, but Pebble's right up there. Just that walk up 18 to sort of be able to build a bit of a lead to kind of enjoy it was a very special moment,” Rose said.
The 42-year-old Rose, who became the first European to win the AT&T Pro-Am, finished at 18-under 269 for his 23rd title worldwide over the last two decades. The victory snapped a winless drought that had stretched back to the 2019 Farmers Insurance Open.
“I think the format, playing with amateurs, kind of just mellowed me out to the point where I let it happen. I let my good golf come forward,” said Rose, who aced the par-3 15th at Spyglass Hill in the second round.
In the Pro-Am competition, which was shortened to 54 holes, the title went to the team of pro Ben Silverman and NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers at 26-under 189.
